Update as of April 10, 2019:
One year ago today, Melissa took charge of her nutrition and started her transformation journey. And on this momentous anniversary, she has lost a total of 100 pounds!
I started CrossFit in July
5th 2015, I began this journey 3 years ago because my doctors told me that “If I did not change something soon, by the end of the year, I would be diabetic”. Seeing how this diseasemy parents and grandparents, I said to myself, This was not going to be me. effected I would work out 3-5 times a week, and by the end of the year, I was free from being diagnosed as diabetic. This seemed to be the ultimate reward and I was happy. Health to me seemed good, not having to take as much medication throughout the year and getting off of a few to boot
.
Bu t my weight and lifestyle never changed. And I thought this was OK. This was normal. I had achieved my goal.
I n February of 2018, a close family members medical situation brought to light how much I was wrong. Doctors explained that if this family member would have exercised, watched what he ate, and kept his diabetes in check, we would not be where we are. This situation was the wake call I needed. And once back in Marietta, GA, I contacted Bubba Brocard andsaid “let’s get this nutrition and weight under control”.I choose to go with RX Nutrition Coaching because I had a colleague and friends who had been doing this program and I was seeing their amazing results, and I said to myself “I can do this too”. Man oh man, that first month was brutal. Learning how to weight year food, looking at meals in advance, and planning everything down to the macro level was extremely hard. And the weight wasn’t dropping
like I hoped. Bubba can tell you, I was the worst and so hard on myself (and I continue to be now). But the coaching and supportgiven really help keep me on track and push me to do my best.I didn’t start realizing the weight I was losing until I saw my
12 week side by side photos. And my jaw dropped. I couldn’t believe what a difference this had made. I still wasn’t at my goal weight so I continued on for an additional 12 weeks.
B y this time, tracking was becoming second nature, I even went to Hawaii and didn’t gain any weight, but had an amazing experience and still got to see results. Every week that passed, more and more individuals would stop me in the halls at work and just rave on how good and how much weight I had lost. They all want to know how I did it.
I am proud to say that I am 7 months in to this program and coaching and I am down 70lbs all together, I have dropped to a size 12 (or smaller haven’t bought new clothing in a few weeks), I have so much more energy, I have PR’d in my mile run (10:06 vs 16:43); I got my first rope climb, got my first handstand push up, even got toes to bars. Who knew that when I started this that in such a short time, I could accomplish so much .
I love being stopped and having people tell me how great I look. My confidence in myself has grown by leaps and bounds. I am not at my final goal yet, but I am confident that this program, these coaches will get me to where I want to be, and be there to help maintain my end results. Thank you to Bubba Brocard and RX Nutrition for giving me a whole new look at life. I am never going back to where I was.
